Biography

Zelalem Yibrah is the Head of Real Estate, Mining, and Energy Practice groups at MLA. He has advised a host of multinational Mining, Energy and IPP companies on matters involving Ethiopian Jurisdictions. Zelalem has also advised clients on establishing branch offices in Ethiopia as well as on compliance issues of already registered non for profit and not governmental organizations.

• MSc, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden (2011)

Selected Experience

  • Advised a South African IPP Company in relation to Jurisdictional Due Diligence for its anticipated investment in the energy sector in Ethiopia.
  • Advised a major wind turbines producer on the procurement laws of Ethiopia.
  • Advised and assisted on submission of 100MW Solar IPP internationally competitive bid to the Ethiopian Electric Power.
  • Advised a major Petroleum Exploration and Production Company from Russia on petroleum exploration licensing and Incorporation to Ethiopia.
  • Advised a Global wind turbines producer on the procurement laws of Ethiopia.
  • Advised a major Financer from China on financing gas operation on matters related to lease financing.
  • Drafted mining license and interest transfer agreement for an Israeli Mining Company.
  • Assisted in structuring a transaction and conveyancing of a property to be developed by a US-based real estate development company engaged in the construction of diplomatic housing services
  • Assisted a diplomatic mission based in Addis Ababa in relation to acquiring a building for Chancery purposes.
