Redeat is a Junior Associate in MLA’s Real Estate and NGO Practice. Redeat has had several internships, such at the Ethiopian Lawyers Association (EWLA) and took part in various platforms, such as the Afro MUN. Since July 2016, Redeat was engaged in advising and assisting various clients mainly on Real Estate law and NGO matters

Selected Experience

  • Advised a British national private landowner in conducting a due diligence investigation on the property, legal advice on lease cost and drafting transactional documents.
  • Advised and assisted diplomatic missions located in Addis Ababa on all legal aspects, potential transaction outcomes and negotiations on property acquisition.
  • Conducted a compliance, legal due diligence and advised developers, real estate companies and private landowners on a variety of real estate projects.
  • Conducted a Limited DD for the purpose of risk analysis in relation to a proposed arrangement with a local partner for an American Jewish NGO and review of MOUs with different strategic partners.
  • Conducted a comprehensive review of the legal and regulatory requirements for a US registered non-profit corporation engaged in agricultural research and development – including tax and employment issues, that the client or the Country Office is expected to comply within Ethiopia.
  • Assisted in the facilitation of dissolution and winding up of a US-based foreign charity registered in Ethiopia; liaise with the all the relevant authorities, draft and review of all the necessary documents and assist in the liquidation of its property as per the rules and procedures.
  • In charge of all Pro-bono matters handled by MLA, such as conducting surveys, legal and jurisdictional researches that are referred through relationship firms abroad and/ or the Federal Attorney General’s office.
