Dr Taddese Lencho is the Head of the Corporate and Tax Practice groups at MLA. Dr. Taddese has advised and represented a number of clients of MLA on investment, entity formation, employment, tax and tax incentives, in negotiations over joint venture agreements, mergers and acquisitions.

Dr. Taddese was the former Dean of the Addis Ababa University Law School where he has taught for close to ten years. He is a recognized authority on Ethiopian Tax and Bankruptcy Laws and has been published in Ethiopian as well as International law journals and reviews.

  • Advised a Chinese based Law Firm in connection with the financing of Ethio-Djibouti Railway Construction and Addis Ababa Light Railway Project.
  • Advised and negotiated on behalf of a major Japanese Construction Corporation in connection with a tax dispute with the Ethiopian Tax Authorities.
  • Advised a textile manufacturing corporation from Taiwan in connection with the acquisition of a textile factory in Ethiopia.
  • Advised leading investment bank in connection with the extension of financing facilities to the Government of Ethiopia.
  • Advised one of the leading fertilizer manufactures in connection with a potential JV with a State-Owned Enterprise in Ethiopia.
  • Advised a leading railway construction company from Turkey in connection with its construction project in Ethiopia.
  • Advised an American private equity firm in connection with beef exporting and real estate investment in Ethiopia.
  • Advised hygiene products manufacturer from Belgium in connection with its Greenfield investment in manufacturing in Ethiopia.
  • Advised a Japanese Tobacco Corporation in connection with acquisition of interest in a partly state-owned tobacco monopoly.
  • Advised a Moroccan fertilizer manufacturer in connection with the operation of blending fertilizer facilities operated by Farmers’ Cooperative Unions.
  • Advised a UK based leather manufacturer in connection with a tax dispute involving one of its subsidiaries in Ethiopia.
  • Advised a UK Development Agency in connection with a tax dispute involving one of its contractors in Ethiopia.
